COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

The Communications Committee serves in an advisory capacity to assess, evaluate and recommend strategies consistent with the Board of Education's goal to improve the effectiveness of all internal and external communication. Its work is ongoing, and involves outreach to all constituencies including the community-at-large, parents, staff and students.

School to Family Communication

The Committee surveyed District parents to help determine how they currently get information about their child's school and how they prefer to get information (for example; paper, email, web).

As a result of the survey, the Committe will continue:

• Reviewing website to make it more user-friendly, consistent, informative

• Making an effort to consolidate mailings from various building departments: athletics, guidance, etc.

• Collecting contact verification sheets to ensure accuracy of household information in database

• Exploring how we can increase electronic communication and decrease the amount of paper used in our effort to “go green”

The Committee encourages parents to continue to provide feedback and comments to the Committee members.
