Hi Everybody,
This is the last Tuesday Newsday of 2011. Please remember that Friday, December 23rd, is a half day. Students will leave PQ at 11:30 AM. No lunch is served on this day. Last Thursday was the Holiday Concert. The fifth grade band and fourth grade chorus performed for the students during the day and the families in the evening. I wish to thank Elleen Nicita and Sheri Dee for an outstanding concert. Our children are quite talented. It was so nice to see them shine.
The After School Enrichment Program registration is scheduled for January 4th and 5th from 2:45-6:30 in the PQ Library. Please check the links below for the winter brochure and enrollment details. We thank Arleen Henshaw, Lia Buchanan and all the volunteers who make this program possible.
The Mommy and Daddy Band is scheduled for Friday, December 23rd at 9:15 AM. This group is led by John O'Meara. They entertain us every year during the holiday season. We thank them for their continued support of PQ.
I wish you all a very happy holiday season. Make it memorable. Take the time to reflect with your children about the gift of family. Happy New Year everybody, I will see you in 2012.

Hi Everybody,
It has been a busy week at PQ. Fourth grade students went to the Madden Environmental Center to do Colonial Crafts. The kindergarten students traveled to a performance of Knuffle Bunny, by Mo Willems, a favorite primary author. The third grade students visited the Hardscrabble Club to learn about beginning tennis. The fifth grade students enjoyed their trip to The Nutcracker. This was an opportunity to see an iconic ballet and appreciate classical music.
Next week many primary classes are making holiday crafts and gingerbread houses. Thank you to all the families who sent in supplies and volunteered to support the activity in the classrooms. Our Winter Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 15th, at 7:00 PM in the PQ Gym. As a reminder any school closing or early dismissal will cancel evening events. Our snow date is Thursday, December 22nd, at 7:00 PM in the PQ Gym. Let's hope for good weather.
Next Tuesday, December 20th is the last Tuesday Newsday of 2011. We begin again on January 3rd. Please go to the web site and enjoy the pictures of our students enjoying the season.
Have a great week.

Hi Everybody,
There are many good projects happening at PQ. The kindergarten students made Stars for Veteran's. Mrs. Finer brought them to the Castle Point Campus to give to Veteran's. Some stars were delivered to Salem Hills for residents who served in the military. Later this month kindergarten students will have an opportunity to give small gifts to a Friends of Karen Grab Bag. The teachers will deliver the gifts to the program. Our youngest students are learning they can make a difference.
Congratulations to Camden Binette, Kieran Dooley, Claire Liddy, Thomas Brewer. They are the new executives of the Student Council. We also congratulate all the participants in the PQ Running Club. The top mileage this year was achieved by Luke Devey, Claire Liddy and Kara Rollins. We thank the high school varsity track volunteers for supporting our students. We thank the Northern Westchester Hospital Center for their partnership and Mr. Gilchrist for being the club advisor.
Thank you to all the parents who came to parent teacher conferences. This home - school partnership is the best indicator for student success.
