A Message from the Superintendent
May 2009
Dear Parents:
As educators and citizens, all of us are trying to find ways to reduce the effects our actions have on the environment. In the North Salem Central Schools, one way we are doing our part is by reducing the amount of paper we send home to families.
We are going online in the fall of 2009
Starting in September we will use email and our website for the distribution of nearly everything we send home to you. While certain key publications such as the school calendar will still be sent home, everything else you need will be delivered to your registered email address and posted on our www.northsalemschools.org website.
How will this work?
Every Tuesday, we will email you a new document called "Tuesday Newsday". It will alert you to new information posted on our website as well as information scheduled to be emailed to you. We will also include links to non-profit community groups who have been sending paper home in backpacks in the past.
What about those Back Pack Papers at PQ?
Starting in September we will no longer stuff the back packs with community flyers. Instead, we are asking community groups to post information and forms on their own websites. We will include links to that information in our "Tuesday Newsday" emails.
Partnerships
We are collaborating with the Library and Town websites so that information can be easily accessed from all three websites (www.northsalemlibrary.org & www.northsalemny.org).
How will we know which email addresses to use?
If you have not recently updated your e-mail please contact:
If you have concerns or questions about this new approach, please contact your school principal. Thank you for joining us in our new effort.
Sincerely,
Kenneth R. Freeston, Ph.D.
