• INTRODUCTION:

The health service department of the North Salem Central School District support the belief that children who feel healthy and safe are better prepared to engage in their educational program and to be successful students. Each school is staffed by a highly trained registered nurse. A part-time nurse is also available to assist both buildings when needed. In addition, the school physician, Dr. Elliot Barsch is available for consultation and yearly/sports physicals when necessary.

The School Nurses have many important responsibilities which include: responding to staff and student emergencies, delivering first aid, assuring that students with acute and chronic illnesses are able to participate in their school program safely, completing mandated New York State Health Screenings, and being available for special education/ child study teams as needed. The goal of school nurses is to promote a culture of health and wellness in their schools.

Our aim is to provide your children with the healthiest and safest environment possible at school.
