Kindergarten Registration Information

Children age 5 by December 1, 2026 are eligible for enrollment in the North Salem Central School District.

Kindergarten registration for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year is ongoing.  Registration is by appointment only.  Please contact the PQ office at 914-669-5317 or by email at LBarry@northsalemschools.org to schedule an appointment.  Parents/Guardians can complete the Kindergarten Registration paperwork below and bring it to your scheduled appointment.

General Registration Information

Please be prepared with the following:

  • Birth certificate or other proof of birth (passport, baptismal certificate)
  • Photo identification of parent registering the student (driver's license, etc.)
  • Proof of residency (deed or mortgage statement with address of property)
  • If renting, acceptable proof of residency would be a lease/rental agreement along with proof of ownership of the landlord of the property
  • Health Examination Form  All new students require a physical exam within 12 months prior to the date of enrollment
  • Immunization Record
  • Proof of guardianship (if applicable)
  • Home Language Form

Preschool (Pre-K) Lottery Enrollment

Information and registration for North Salem's 2026-27 Preschool (Pre-K) is available now.

  • The lottery is chosen at random in January 2026.
  • The Pre-K program is run for 4 year old North Salem Central School District students at Pequenakonck Elementary School (PQ).
  • The program will be a full day (9am- 2pm) and operate on the North Salem Central School District calendar.
  • Each class will have up to 20 students staffed by a certified preschool teacher and teaching assistants.
  • Parents are responsible for all transportation and there will be before and aftercare available by the YMCA team at PQ at parent expense.
  • The lottery is chosen at random in January and all parents will be notified of their child's status. If your child is chosen, they will need to be registered with North Salem Central School District. If your child is not chosen, you will be placed on the waitlist.
  • If you would like to be placed on the lottery list, please complete the questions here. Please note that students receiving IEP services through CPSE can receive them while attending the Pre-K program and that students are only eligible for the program for one year (no holding a child back).
  • If a child turns 5 on or before December 1st, 2026, they must either enter our Kindergarten or the parent must seek out a private Pre-K program. Thank you.
