North Salem Middle/High School
 REMINDER – Please do not park your car unattended in fire lanes for any reason.  Fire lanes are designated with a posted sign and/or yellow lines with the words “fire lane” across them.  This is a safety issue and we appreciate your cooperation.
The North Salem Middle School has been re-designated as a 2019 Essential Elements Schools to Watch. This designation is based on the North Salem Middle School's continued commitment to enhancing its program and practices. 
Tutoring Available  -- In an effort to connect students with peer tutors, the National Honor Society is implementing a new and improved tutoring program. If your student would be interested in seeing a peer tutor for the fourth quarter and/or regents prep please fill out the attached tutoring referral form. This form should be turned in to Jillian Foglia in the counseling office as soon as possible.

Residents are invited to join in the Annual Somers Holocaust Memorial Commission Yom HaShoah Commemoration to be held at 
North Salem HS, 230 June Road,  North Salem, on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 7:00 PM.  The Interfaith Somers Holocaust Memorial Commission is dedicated to educating students about the horrors of the Holocaust and other genocides.  Students from the North Salem Chorus will perform as will dancers from the Ridgefield Conservatory. There will be an awards ceremony for the high school students whose creative projects were selected as winners, plus a candle lighting ceremony in memory of all holocaust victims. Mr. Peter Somogyi will be our guest speaker.  He is a child survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp and the twin experiments conducted by Dr. Joseph Mengele.  The candle lighting ceremony will be presided over by Cantor Ruth Ossher, Hebrew Congregation of Somers, the Invocation given by Father John Lagiovane, St. Joseph’s RC Church, and the Benediction pronounced by the Reverend Michael T. Watson, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Somers.  For questions or for survivors or their children who’d like to participate in the candle ceremony, please email Donations in any amount to further the work of the SHMC are welcome and may be sent to the Somers Holocaust Memorial Commission at P.O. Attention Parents of bright young learners who may be interested in learning more about Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.  Learn more about what CTY has to offer academically advanced student at Mamaroneck Public Library on Tuesday, April 23.   JHU is hosting a free event for students in grades two through eight and their families.  Please see attached flyer for additional information!

Course requests/recommendations for the 2019-2020 school year have been posted on Parent Portal for all current 8th-11th grade students.  Please you’re your child’s counselor or teacher should you have any questions.

The Annual Regional College and Career Fair will be held at PNW BOCES on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 from 8:00 am - 10:15 am for all interested 10th and 11th graders.  Last year, over 300 colleges were in attendance with business and industry representatives from a wide variety of career areas, providing information to all students.  We are asking all high school 10th and 11th grade students who are interested to please print out and return the attached permission slip to Mrs. Lash in the high school guidance office by Friday, April 26th to ensure we have the appropriate  amount of buses. There is no cost for attendance and students will be bused to BOCES after they arrive to school in the morning.  

Junior interviews, the process where students and their parents, meet individually with their school counselors to discuss post-secondary plans, generally takes place during the spring semester of junior year. Please call the Counseling Office (x2021) to make an appointment.  Please encourage your Junior to continue to work on their autobiographical summary.

It’s time to start thinking about signing up the SATs and/or ACTs.  Please visit the Counseling webpage for test dates and registration info. 

Please stop by the Counseling Office to let us know all of your college decisions.

7th and 8th Grade Students:

  • Thursday’s                   3:00-4:00 pm

Varsity and JV athletic teams will have exclusive use of the Fitness Center beginning at 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
